| Midwest Poultry Consortium (MPC) announces the Midwest Poultry Research Program (MPRP) request for proposals. The MPRP is federally funded and is administered through the USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and Iowa State University in collaboration with MPC. The MPRP was created to address research priorities of the poultry industry in our member states and to improve the efficiency and sustainability of poultry production through integrated, collaborative research and technology transfer. Funds will be distributed in the following manner: 40% for projects addressing critical industry needs regardless of species, 20% for layer research, 20% for broiler research, and 20% for turkey research. This funding has been made possible, in part, by the efforts of the Midwest Poultry Consortium and Iowa State University. A committee, made up of University personnel from five of the fourteen MPC states on a rotating basis and industry sector representatives (broiler, layer, turkey and other species) will evaluate proposals and select those to be funded based, in part, upon 1) Scientific Merit, Conceptual Adequacy & Innovation; 2) Institutional Qualifications; and 3) Relevance and/or Progress. Proposals must be received by Friday January 8, 2010. |
